Perianth and position in the genus
Korotkova and colleagues describe Pseudorhipsalis amazonica as a cactus with blue tepals. This distinctive feature formerly prompted recognition of the genus Wittia, subsequently replaced by the name Wittiocactus. Chloroplast DNA analysis placed the species in the Pseudorhipsalis clade with maximum support in the analyses used. [Korotkova et al. 2017, pp.12–13]
Materials from the author's archive
The species also appears in Konrad Szychowski's private material archive. [Kreuzinger 1935, file p. 17]
