Chemia badanych nasion

Seeds identified as Escobaria lloydii (now Pelecyphora lloydii) belonged in Chen and colleagues' study to the group containing 5-hydroxyguaiacyl units, 5H. Analysis of chemical degradation products also showed syringyl units, S. This material was compared with P. dasyacantha and P. zilziana, also described under the former genus Escobaria. [Chen et al. 2013, p. 207–208, ryc. 2F, 5]

Microscopy covered the seed surface and wall responses to staining. It showed differences between seeds with different lignin compositions, with no simple relationship between seed-coat ornamentation and the polymer's chemical class. The article covers seed structure and monomer identification. It did not assess seedling survival in this species. [Chen et al. 2013, pp. 207–209, Fig. 5]
