Interpreting comparisons

Germination results depend on seed age and provenance, storage, sample size and assessment time. A high germination percentage still leaves the stages of seedling growth and survival. The stated times to first flowering refer to specific collections.

In the study of Mammillaria kraehenbuehlii, the authors found no significant differences between seed treatments in the group analysed. The highest percentage alone does not identify a more effective treatment. [Flores Martínez et al. 2002, file p. 9, 10]
