ExperimentFresh batches aged 5–6 months showed about 97% germination. The older, 15-month control showed about 65%. More than 40% of seedlings from the older seeds died after transplanting. [Flores Martínez and Manzanero Medina 2003, file p. 10, 11]
The paper includes different experiments and batches. The result should not be applied to seeds with unknown storage conditions.

Field studyThe soil studied had a pH of 6.41, organic matter of 4.234% and EC of 0.52 mmhos/cm. A spatial association with Quercus castanea was demonstrated in the forest community. [Martínez et al. 2001, file p. 7, 8]
