Habitat and substrate
Field studyThe plants occupied rocky microhabitats. The soil sample had pH 7.31, organic matter 4.298% and conductivity 0.49 mmhos/cm (= 0.49 mS/cm). This is a site measurement rather than a potting mix recipe. [Flores Martínez et al. 2002, file p. 8]
Sowing experiment
ExperimentIn 2002, 12 treatments were compared, with 3 replicates × 20 seeds each, on filter paper in dishes, in diffuse light at room temperature, kept continuously moist with distilled water. Observation lasted 45 days. The control reached 78.333% and darkness 45%. The highest mean of 91.667% after a chemical treatment does not demonstrate superiority over the control, since the Tukey groups overlap. [Flores Martínez et al. 2002, file p. 4, 5, 9, 10]
Wiek nasion
ExperimentIn a separate study, the control germination rate for 7-month-old seeds was 71.6%, and a second comparison of a fresh batch gave 78.3%. Seeds aged 30 months reached 60%. These batches should not be combined into a single result. [Flores Martínez and Manzanero Medina 2003, file p. 9, 10]
Sadzonki
ExperimentIn the study, cuttings were dried for 15 days. IBA at 600, 1200 and 1800 ppm was then compared, with immersion for 1 minute and 5 cuttings per treatment. Total root lengths of 20.07 / 17.73 / 14.99 cm were reported. The control produced no roots. [Flores Martínez et al. 2002, file p. 5, 6, 8, 11, 12]
The ANOVA and the description of significance are inconsistent. The 600 ppm treatment should not be presented as a proven optimum. Historical use of Captan is not a current product recommendation.
