Substrate and growth

Collector observation

The author used about 90% mineral and 10% organic components, with abundant water during active growth in a very porous substrate and strong light. In spring, he waited for leaves to appear before watering. [Zychowski 2005, file p. 2, 3]

Dormancy and pruning

Collector observation

The source gives dry dormancy and 5–7°C for the cultivation discussed. Wait to prune apparently dry branches until growth begins and living buds become visible. It does not recommend rooting during dormancy. [Zychowski 2005, file p. 2, 3, 4]

Provenance of the material

Collector observation

The author distinguishes the appearance of the swollen structures in seed-grown plants from the tangle of thickened roots in plants grown from cuttings. Not every cutting will reproduce the same habit as a seedling. [Zychowski 2005, file p. 2, 3]
