Light and dormancy

Collector observation

This is a high-elevation plant. The account recommends abundant light, fresh air, cool, dry dormancy and large daily temperature differences. The source mentions brief subzero temperatures under very dry conditions, but warns against an unheated greenhouse. [Martin and Romulski 2004, file p. 18, 19]

Substrate

Collector observation

Mainly mineral and free-draining, and acidic according to the author. The pot accommodates the deep underground portion. Water sparingly and avoid sharp fragments near the thickened base. [Martin and Romulski 2004, file p. 19]

Wysiew

Collector observation

The source describes a low percentage, prolonged germination and very sensitive seedlings. It gives no quantitatively defined method for breaking dormancy. [Martin and Romulski 2004, file p. 19]
