What can appear on the site
Photographs of whole plants and their details will supplement atlas profiles. Series documenting flowering, pollination, germination, grafting or changes in growth form can accompany articles. Photographs of fruits, seeds, seedlings, areoles, spines, ribs and tubercles, as well as crested and monstrose forms, are also useful.
Plant name and description
For a photograph or series, include the plant name, a description of the detail photographed and the date taken, if known. Indicate whether the photograph was taken in a collection or a natural habitat. If identification is uncertain, state the level at which it has been established. We can check the name together.
For photographs from the wild, give the country and general region. Locations of rare and threatened plants will be presented without precise site coordinates.
Photo files
Prepare sharp photographs at their original resolution, preferably JPG or PNG, without text overlaid on the image. Retain the plant's natural appearance and the details needed for identification. We will prepare lighter versions suited to the site for publication.
A photograph documents an actual plant. Drawings, reconstructions and computer-generated illustrations can be considered separately, with their nature clearly described.
Authorship and publication
I invite you to share your own photographs. A credit may contain a full name or an agreed pseudonym and, with the author's permission, a link to their collection or website. The author retains rights to the photographs. Non-exclusive permission covers publication solely on “Cacti • atlas and cultivation” and technical adaptation of files for the site. Use outside the site requires a separate agreement with the author.
