The first assembly of the Lophophora williamsii mitochondrial genome from long HiFi reads. The authors analyse repeats, fragments homologous to chloroplasts, predicted RNA editing sites, codon usage, selection pressure and phylogenetic relationships. Five linear representations describe the assembly, whose dynamics in vivo require verification. The discussion separates RNA editing predictions, sequence analysis and functions that require experimental validation.
