Characterization, comparison, and phylogenetic analyses of chloroplast genomes of Euphorbia species

Article2024

Lee S.-R., Oh A., Son D. C., Characterization, comparison, and phylogenetic analyses of chloroplast genomes of Euphorbia species, Scientific Reports, 2024, 14:15352, doi: 10.1038/s41598-024-66102-0

The study compares 18 plastome accessions from nine Euphorbia species, including three newly sequenced herbaceous plants from subgenus Chamaesyce. The authors corrected annotations in downloaded sequences and distinguished between-species variation from variation within six species. A broader phylogenetic analysis covered 42 species of the genus and identified rpoB as the individual region producing a tree most congruent with the whole-plastome reconstruction. This agreement concerns chloroplast genealogy and does not establish a universal identification test for all succulent spurges.
