The authors assembled the chloroplast genome of Euphorbia resinifera from spine-derived DNA and compared its structure and sequences with other spurges. The plastome was 163 065 base pairs long, with 132 gene annotations counting duplicated copies and 96 short repeated sequences. Whole-plastome and rpl22 analyses produced partly different relationship patterns, while this gene had an identical sequence in E. resinifera and E. ampliphylla. The study supplies reference material for further research without assessing population variation or providing a new census of the species.
