Astrophytum ornatum glabrescens

Description and meaning of the name

A historical name associated with limited hair covering. Descriptions and illustrations sometimes conflict, including over hair bands. Hair density naturally decreases with age. POWO treats the corresponding glabrescens names as synonyms of A. ornatum. The label is retained as information about an older identification. [2-WWW] [Bartylak 2007] [Szychowski b.d.b]

Cultivation and documentation

The A. ornatum profile applies, with careful acclimation of plants whose green surface is more exposed. [2-WWW] [Bartylak 2007] [Szychowski b.d.b]
