Astrophytum myriostigma tulense

Description and meaning of the name

In 2021, Montanucci and Kleszewski recognised tulense through a combination of stem, flower and seed features. In their material, plants were more slender and taller, and flowers usually had fewer tepal rows than the nominate subspecies compared. On 8 October 2026, POWO placed this name among synonyms of subsp. myriostigma. The profile retains the authors' alternative treatment and material provenance.
