Description and meaning of the name

The term concerns plants almost lacking white hairs on the stem surface. Areoles remain present. The 2020 study showed continuity between bare, partly hairy and densely hairy plants. The lack of a separate, constant feature set and exclusive range supports treating nudum as a form. POWO places older names among synonyms of the nominate subspecies.
