Description and meaning of the name

Variegata describes mosaic colour variation associated with reduced green tissue in part of the stem. Albina sometimes names plants almost lacking green colour. Superkabuto or Onzuka white hairs are a separate feature. A photograph's brightness alone cannot distinguish dense hairs from chlorophyll absence. Identification requires examination of tissue between hairs. [Szychowski b.d.a] [11-WWW] [12-WWW]

Cultivation and documentation

Needs depend on the amount of functional green tissue and the rootstock. No single scheme has been established for all variegated lines. [Szychowski b.d.a] [11-WWW] [12-WWW]
