Description and meaning of the name
An older name associated with long, curved, yellow or golden spines. In the archived comparison, plants had few body hairs and flowers with orange or red centres. POWO treats the corresponding botanical names with aureum as synonyms of A. capricorne. Keep the label together with seed provenance. Spine colour changes with age and alone does not define a separate species. [2-WWW] [Szychowski b.d.b]
Cultivation and documentation
Follow the A. capricorne profile. Golden spines do not justify a separate overwintering minimum. [2-WWW] [Szychowski b.d.b]
