The authors compare potted Mammillaria gracilis plants with normal in vitro shoots, callus, hyperhydric shoots and tumour tissue induced by Agrobacterium. The study examines pigments, chlorophyll fluorescence, daily acidity, PEPC activity and photosynthesis-related proteins. Normal shoots retain a weakened CAM acidity rhythm, while the other tissues show no significant nocturnal acid accumulation.
