A dated plastid phylogenetic analysis and reconstruction of historical ranges of mammilloid clade cacti in the Baja California region. The authors compare diversification rate models and test how results depend on hooked spines. They indicate recent divergences of many regional lineages and a complex history of movement between the peninsula, islands and mainland. Rates and trait associations are model-dependent estimates.
