The transcriptome of Pachycereus pringlei root apices was compared at three developmental stages. The analysis identifies expression changes accompanying cell differentiation and putative regulators of meristem maintenance. A regulatory network was inferred by comparison with Arabidopsis, and selected RNA profiles were checked by RT-qPCR.
