A study of mycorrhizal fungi near San Luis Atolotitlán compares preserved dry scrub, native vegetation patches and open cropping areas within milpa-chichipera, and monocropped fields. Samples from two seasons distinguished 58 species-level fungal morphotypes, of which 38 were identified to species and 20 to genus. Scrub and retained vegetation patches supported greater richness and diversity than monocropped fields. The article appeared online on 9 December 2025 and received a 2026 volume citation.
