The study describes isolation and structural elucidation of saponins from aerial parts of Polaskia chichipe. It compares Aβ40 aggregation in a thioflavin T assay with the response of SH-SY5Y cells exposed to Aβ42. Different compounds perform best in these two systems, separating aggregation assay results from cellular protection.
