The authors evaluated Myrtillocactus geometrizans fruit juice concentrate in a rat model of metabolic disturbances induced by a high-fat diet. After 140 days, they reported changes in microbiota composition, including Parabacteroides, without significant reversal of the main metabolic alterations. Analysis of microbial functions was predictive. The available abstract also describes detection of betalains and flavonoid derivatives in the concentrate.
