The paper compares fruits identified as Myrtillocactus geometrizans and M. schenckii, collected in four central Mexican states. It examines physicochemical properties, nutrient composition, betalain pigments and phenolic compounds. Identified compounds include gallic acid, caffeic acid and vanillin. Antioxidant activity was measured by the chemical TEAC assay, and the observed differences concern the fruit batches studied.
