The paper compares flowering, insect visits and mating systems in populations under different forms of management. Home-garden plants produced more flowers and fruits, and large Xylocopa mexicanorum bees were important flower visitors. Controlled pollination showed predominantly outcrossed reproduction with some capacity for self-pollination. The authors also described seasonal variation in flower opening duration.
