Field observations of fruits and birds were combined with feeding and germination experiments on five Rhipsalis species. Euphonia deposited sticky seeds on supports, while the effect of gut passage on germination depended on both cactus and bird species. Final germination in R. teres remained similar to controls, separating transport from the physiological effect of digestion.
