Documentation of two outbreaks of eye and oral injuries in sheep and goats feeding among Tacinga inamoena in Paraíba. Clinical and histological examination showed glochids in damaged tissues and a foreign-body inflammatory response. The paper describes the structure of the hooked projections on glochids and the mechanics of their retention in tissues.
