The authors compared germination of intact seeds from Stenocereus thurberi plants assigned to two reproductive categories in five populations in northern Sinaloa. Maternal plants were classified according to the occurrence of precocious germination within their fruits. Germination traits differed among populations and were associated with reproductive category under shared laboratory conditions.
