This study of Stenocereus beneckei seedlings combines measurements of diel titratable acidity, growth and anatomy at four soil water potentials. The results distinguish seedling age from water availability and link seed mass with offspring development. Titratable acidity serves as an indicator of CAM activity, and the experiment concerns young plants developing under laboratory conditions.
