Field surveys in 2015–2016 describe the structure, habitats and population organization of <em>Euphorbia schoenlandii</em> in western South Africa. Distance measurements were used to estimate density and then the abundance of three surveyed populations at approximately 29 152 individuals. The study documented nearby shrubs, insects visiting cyathia, moth-larval damage and habitat transformation. The authors proposed retaining category VU with revised criteria, while their observational data do not establish pollinator effectiveness or causal facilitation by nurse plants.
