Names and checklist scope

The tree is based on the World Checklist of Vascular Plants, version 16 dated 4 June 2026, downloaded on 8 October 2026. Every accepted species has a name record. An atlas link appears beside plants with an account. Dla 157 genera had their full lists of accepted names compared with POWO on 11 October 2026. Currently accepted names have separate profiles, and former synonym links account for changes in treatment. Lower-rank taxa retain the scope of WCVP 16.

Lower-ranked taxa include subspecies, varieties and forms. Hybrids retain a label of origin. The checklist does not include unresolved names as accepted species. The POWO database accessed through the links may change after the release date.

Subfamilies, tribes and genera

The 2025 classification by de Vos and co-authors recognises six subfamilies and 155 genera. The tree below reproduces its groups. Clicking a genus name searches for its accepted names and synonyms in the WCVP checklist above.

The two treatments adopt partially different generic boundaries. Species are therefore arranged according to one WCVP checklist, while higher units are presented separately in a phylogenetic treatment. The interface branches show taxonomic membership. They do not represent lineage divergence times or a complete reconstruction of relationships among all species. [de Vos et al. 2025]
