Neolloydia

A tuberculate cactus with funnel-shaped magenta flowers. In the Mexican population at Tolimán, it flowers in pulses through much of the warm season. Studies showed that this population depends on cross-pollination and shares some bees with neighbouring Ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus.

A species from Tamaulipas distinguished by a light green, shiny stem and central spines lying close to its surface. A 2025 comparative study of adult plants supported its distinctness, previously recognised primarily from seedling structure.

A bluish-green species from northeastern Mexico, associated with limestone karst landforms. Closely packed tubercles and relatively few radial spines help distinguish it from plants in the Neolloydia conoidea complex. Morphometric studies in 2025 supported its distinctness.
